Found this link building guide through one of the forums I’m on. I liked the bit about simulating natural growth, and looking for / having variations - in anchor text, pagerank, etc.
One other bit of advice which hit home - internal backlinks. It’s been quite sometime since I checked the traffic statistics, and some of my older pages are still going strong.
Jim’s article also identifies possible pitfalls, and alternate methods that could have negative consequences. Most articles I’ve seen either ignore these, or push them on you without alerting you to the possible negatives, which makes this article both rare and all the more valuable.
