Enough Money has a simple yet amusing query - how can Bill Gates be the world’s richest man with a net worth of $50 Billion, when he’s donated a huge chunk to the Gates foundation?

Possible answers :

  1. He just said
    he would be donating it, but hasn’t really!
  2. He got the 2nd richest (Warren Buffett) to also donate - so that he would remain on top!
  3. Isn’t that why they call it double-entry accounting?
  4. The check is in the mail. Honest

Simple - he used to be worth $100 Billion. He gave $20 billion to his foundation and the value of his MSFT has dropped since 2000.
